How the platform works
EYON is equipped with the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer Laser, part of the WaveLight refractive surgery platform used by refractive surgeons internationally.
The EX500 operates at 500 Hz and incorporates high-speed eye-tracking technology designed to continuously monitor the eye during treatment.
Its sophisticated treatment profiles and integration with WaveLight diagnostic systems allow our surgeons to plan different forms of laser vision correction according to the individual patient’s measurements and clinical requirements.
Together, they form the foundation of our personalized refractive surgery platform at EYON.
What is LASIK?
LASIK is a laser procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism, reducing your need for glasses or contact lenses. Before anything else, we check that LASIK is safe for your eyes.
What is Contoura Vision LASIK?
Every cornea has its own shape, much like a fingerprint. Contoura Vision maps your corneal surface with the WaveLight Topolyzer VARIO (22 rings, up to 22,000 elevation points) and uses that map to plan treatment on the 500 Hz EX500 laser. Standard LASIK mainly corrects your spectacle power. Contoura also takes the corneal surface into account. Results vary from person to person.

Depending on your results, we may recommend Contoura Vision LASIK, wavefront-optimised LASIK, flap-free surface ablation (PRK), or a non-laser option if corneal laser surgery is not safe for you.
Who is a good candidate for LASIK?
You may be suitable if you are an adult with a stable prescription in the treatable range, healthy and adequately thick corneas, a healthy eye surface and realistic expectations. LASIK may not be right if you have thin corneas, keratoconus or suspicious corneal scans, significant dry eye, a changing prescription, certain eye or autoimmune conditions, or are pregnant.
LASIK surgery day and recovery.
Numbing drops are used and the treatment is done in our dedicated laser suite. The laser itself works for only seconds, and most patients go home the same day. Watering, mild irritation, light sensitivity or fluctuating vision can occur at first. You will get drops and clear guidance on screens, washing, exercise, makeup, driving and follow-up visits.

Does LASIK hurt?
Numbing drops are used. You may feel pressure, and some irritation or watering afterwards.
How fast is LASIK recovery?
Many people see well soon after, but recovery varies and vision can fluctuate in the first days.
Will I never need glasses again after LASIK?
It is not guaranteed. Age-related reading changes (presbyopia) can still happen.
Is Contoura better than ordinary LASIK?
Contoura adds a map of your corneal surface to the planning. Whether it suits you is decided at your evaluation.
Can I have LASIK if I have dry eyes?
It depends on the cause and severity. We treat the surface first, and some patients are advised to wait or choose another option.
Can very high power be corrected with LASIK?
That depends on corneal thickness, shape and how much tissue would be removed.
