EYON Eye & Laser Institute is a Government of India authorised corneal transplant centre in Kharadi, Pune, and one of very few eye institutes in India with a dedicated ocular surface department. Led by cornea surgeon Dr. Swapnil Bhalekar, we treat keratoconus, corneal scarring, corneal infections, failed grafts, severe dry eye and chemical injuries. What is corneal disease?

The cornea is the clear front window of the eye. Infection, injury, scarring or conditions such as keratoconus can make it cloudy or misshapen, causing blurred vision, pain and redness. Ocular surface disease, including severe dry eye, Stevens–Johnson Syndrome and chemical burns, damages the tissues that keep the cornea healthy.

Corneal transplant (keratoplasty)

Full-thickness and lamellar techniques including DMEK, DSEK, DALK and ALK. Lamellar surgery replaces only the damaged layers, often with faster recovery and lower rejection risk.
