Diagnostics & technology

Cornea diagnostics.

Corneal Topography
Corneal Topography

The shape of the window of the eye.

Know more

Surface mapping is essential for keratoconus, transplant planning and any refractive decision that depends on a regular cornea.

Collagen Crosslinking
Collagen Crosslinking

Stabilising a cornea that is changing.

Know more

Crosslinking strengthens corneal collagen in selected keratoconus cases, so progression can be slowed before a transplant is needed.

Meibography
Meibography

The ocular surface, measured.

Know more

Infrared imaging of the meibomian glands turns dry eye from guesswork into a finding we can treat before other surgery.

The condition

What is happening.

The cornea is the eye’s clear outer dome. Injury, infection or scarring distorts the light passing through it, causing pain, redness and severe loss of vision. Ocular surface disease — from dry eye to Stevens–Johnson Syndrome and chemical burns — attacks the same delicate surface.

Signs to watch for

When to come in.

  • Scarred or opaque cornea
  • Severe pain, redness or light sensitivity
  • Burning, gritty, persistently dry eyes
  • Distorted or blocked vision
  • Surface disease that will not heal
Our approach

How we treat it.

Full-thickness and lamellar transplantation including DSEK, DMEK, DALK and ALK, collagen crosslinking for keratoconus, and a dedicated ocular surface department covering meibography, chemical injury management and surface reconstruction.

Why EYON

What sets this apart.

EYON is a Government of India authorised centre for corneal transplantation under the Human Organ Transplantation Act 1994, and among the very few institutes anywhere in India with a dedicated ocular surface department.

Questions

What patients ask.

What is the difference between penetrating and lamellar keratoplasty?

Penetrating keratoplasty replaces the entire thickness of the cornea. Lamellar techniques such as DSEK, DMEK, DALK and ALK replace only the diseased layers, which usually means faster recovery and less rejection risk.

Is EYON authorised to perform transplants?

Yes — authorised under the Human Organ Transplantation Act 1994 for corneal transplantation.

Can a transplant restore vision after corneal blindness?

In carefully selected cases, grafting restores useful vision where the rest of the eye is healthy. Evaluation determines whether the cornea is the only barrier.
